BOOK CLUB III

Hello friends,

A happy new year to you :)

How has your summer been? I personally didn’t do too much; slow days by the beach, sleep-ins, bush walks, spontaneous road trips and a whole lot of writing. Whilst I’ve always been a writer, journaling and keeping diaries since I can remember, it’s fast become my most favourite thing to do as a way of self-reflection, goal-setting and manifestation.

Any good writer is generally a reader, so going into other peoples headspace is a further way to learn and develop ourselves. In saying that, I wanted to share my latest finds to kick off the new year and book club I started last year.

Enjoy xx

  1. A Portrait of Australia: The Best Stories from Thirty Years of Australian Geographic

Inspired by my time in the outback and current love for driving and discovering beautiful destinations, this book shares insight into some of Australia’s most special places. with it’s stunning imagery and insightful text, It has given me fresh ideas for where I want to go next :)

2. The Resilience Project, Hugh Van Cuylenburg

This was given to my dad for Christmas (but somehow landed on my bedroom side table), however highlights the key steps to leading a happier, more contented and fulfilling life.

Hugh was a teacher volunteering in northern India when he noticed how positive the children were compared to those in Australia. He knew that too many people living in the West are finding it hard to be happy, or suffered illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Therefore, he set out to find the answer and in time came to recognise the key traits and behaviours of contented people were gratitude, empathy and mindfulness. I couldn’t agree more with his findings.

3. The Watkins Tarot Handbook, Naomi Ozaniec

Whether you’re a tarot expert, or picking up a deck for the very first time, this book is a rather comprehensive guide to using tarot.

Clearly written and always accessible, it delves into the connections between Tarot and psychology, alchemy and mythology. With the right guidance, anyone can find insights by following some of the exercises and embark on an exciting journey to discovering your truth.
